Elizabeth Tinglof is a Los Angeles based artist and curator interested in the act of story telling through abstraction. Her map like environmental depictions are reminiscent of aerial topography that evoke shifts between macro and micro views of a changing landscape. Through tactile surfaces she records the essence of snap shot imagery and a blurring of documentation as a form of recounting locational histories.
Tinglof is an awardee of The Versailles Foundation/Munn Artist In Residence Program, Claude Monet Gardens, Giverny, France (2022), leading to the collaborative project Unearthing in both Joshua Tree, CA and Aarhus, Denmark (2023-2024) and completed a residency at the Gilsfjörður Arts Artist Residency, Westfjords, Iceland (2019). Tinglof has also curated several exhibitions including, Still (2022), Have to Hold (2020), SHE (2018) at Launch Gallery, LA, CA.
Her work has been exhibited throughout Southern CA including exhibitions with The Robert Berman Gallery and Berman/Turner Projects, Bergmont Station, Santa Monica, Launch LA Gallery, LA The Brand Library Gallery, Glendale, Cerritos College Gallery, Norwalk; Seaver Gallery, Post, Backspace, and Embed Gallery LA. Tinglof has recently expanded her work internationally with a collaborative site-specific installation for Holme Kunstahl in Aarhus, Denmark.
She received her BFA from Otis College of Art and Design, her MFA from California State University, Northridge and attended Sotheby's Art Institute London for a curatorial program.
